Is there a way to download podcasts/mp3/wav files from websites (hotfile, etc) directly to your iphone? it usually gives me an error as soon as the quicktime icon on the phone pops up....

I don't know about downloading from hotfire, but if you have a direct link to a download (example: the engadget podcast from engadget.com) then GoodReader for the iPhone and iPad will allow you to do that, and it only cost $.99

With GoodReader you can download audio/video/images and zip files (and it will unzip them for you).

just to add about goodreader. with it you can download from sites such as rapidshare. I don't recall trying hotfile specifically, but several other sites of that kind.
