The MacBook seems to be the odd Apple in the basket. The price difference between the MacBook and the 13" MacBook Pro isn't too big... Do you see it getting killed off anytime soon?

I think they phase out either the 13" MacBook or MacBook Pro because now they have three 13" computers.

I think they will have to merge the 13" Pro with the 13" MacBook. They are just too similar.

Oh by the way, the 13" Air has been around for a LONG time ;) Its the 11 inch that is new in this update lol.

Yea I know been up since 4:30AM and not thinking straight. I just think Apple will try to slim down the line with 1 11", 2 13" & the 15" to 17" MBP's.

Tonight, I just reccomended the 13" MBP to a friend as an everyday comp.....still think it ha tons of value as an everyday almost "womens" computer....by far not a power users comp but great for traveling.....since my wife always wanted to use the comp i went ahead and bout a 15" for me....and our marriage has never been happier :)

For an "every day" computer...why was the 13.3" Macbook sufficient?

eh nope I dont think they wil lget rid of the macbook
Most people including me the first computer they think of when you say apple is macbook. And the always 999 price or w.e or black and white macbook ect.. Its the consumer friendly computer at a livable price.

You can't buy the black macbook anymore unfortunatley.

I also believe the Macbook will be phased out.

The days of plastic Apple computers are about over and I for one, am happy about it.

I can see them retaining the sizes of the MacBook Pros and making the MacBook 11" and giving it an awesome price tag to make a really affordable MacBook

I think you'll eventually see the 13" Macbook and 13" Macbook Pro merge together, considering they are very close ATM.

Seems heartless to kill the iconic white MacBook. I already miss the previous generation all-aluminum MBP. Keyboard was heaven.

Plastic has a lot of benefits compared to aluminum. It doesn't dent as easily, better RF, and it will take a fall better than the aluminum version.

Obviously you've never used a Thinkpad. Their keyboards are way above any Macbook. In fact, they were and still are the best in business. I wish Apple would look at them and try to imitate them rather than those keyboard designs used in today's MB and MBP.

I LOVE ThinkPads. If I had to suffer with a PC, it would be Lenovo hands down. The current MB and MBP keyboards are terrible, I still think the previous MBP generation keyboard was rad.

I reckon its going to go, especially now they have priced the 11" Air at the same level as the White MacBook. As mentioned Apple have moved on from white plastic design, everything else in the range is aluminium/ glass. They will probably quietly kill it off around the same time as the MBP gets its updates, I'd guess this will all happen around January 2011.

Yes, with the entire Macintosh line being alu and glass - White plasitc is just too out of place.
