Sorry but does it work? And one more question is it the same way to jb like ip4? Dfu mode n all? Thanks!

Is there really any reason to go to 3.2.2? I read somewhere the only addition was to fix the PDF exploit that www.jailbreakme.com used.

I have downloaded the PDF fix from Cydia anyway so I just can't seen to find a good reason to download 3.2.2.
but if the OP either

a) got an iPad with 3.2.2 on (like I did)
or
b) updated without saving 3.2 shsh

then the OP had no choice in jailbreaking 3.2.2

Oh I totally agree with that. I was just considering it the other day and was feeling like I didn't want to re-download all my Cydia apps, take the time to do a custom ipsw, etc.

Thanks for the info!

Jailbroken Ipad 3g - og 3.2 firmware

So I know I am a little late to the game.. but i got an original 3.2 Jailbroken Ipad which i had done earlier on jailbreakme.com - Ok so right now i got a bunch of jailbroken software *which i dont want to loose* and I really want to update cause my wifi connection always drops - and thats my main incentive for upgrading. I just wanted to know what my options are. Im running 10.01 Itunes on macosx snowleopard. Thanks again ;)

At this point, I'd just sit tight and wait, as 4.2 should be relased any day. You can look for aptbackup or pkgbackup in Cydia to help you reinstall all your jailbreak apps after an upgrade, but there's just no way to upgrade without having to rejailbreak and reinstall everything. It doesn't seem worth it to go through that now and then go through it again in a week or two when you'd want to upgrade again to 4.2. But if you absolutely must upgrade now, then you can jailbreak with either limera1n, greeenpois0n, or pwnage tool. Oh, and you should update iTunes to 10.1.

agreed

i agree but like right now i can upgrade to 3.2.2 off of itunes... wouldnt i be able to use the mentioned jailbreaks after i upgrade? - thus preserving my jailbroken apps / files / etc ?

Edit - do u loose access to your apps after the upgrade? i think i was missing that

Whenever you upgrade to a new firmware, all your jailbreak apps and mods are wiped out, and you are left with a device that is "in jail." Your device is basically in a state it will be if it came from the factory with that firmware on it. You then have to rejailbreak, then reinstall your jailbreak apps. There's no way to preserve jailbreak apps through an upgrade. Apps like aptbackup and pkgbackup help automate the reinstall process somewhat, but it's not completely automatic.

i gotcha you now.. so your basically saying just wait for the 4.2 firmware and the eventual jailbreak and do this process then... as reinstalling these apps will be unavoidable?

thanks again for your quick responses... and i hope this is useful to others as I surely cant be the only lazy person who hasnt updated from 3.2 ! :-O

Yes, exactly. Unless your wifi problems are so bad your iPad is unusable, just wait it out for 4.2 to officially be released, and then upgrade and rejailbreak when the jailbreak for 4.2 is released.
