I have a 2008 MacPro running OSX 10.6.4 and having two superdrives. Today neither of the drives will work correctly. For some CDs (commerically-bought music CDs) neither drive will read them. Your hear the search head "noise." At least that's the best descriptor I can use. It is on/off for several minutes - sounds like the drive is trying to read the disk.
For some CDs the upper drive just quits, and ejects the disk. For others, iTunes finally opens and prompts to import the CD (the tracks for that disk do show). The lower superdrive isn't as loud, but it will not read any disk - just ejects after about a minute.
Anybody with ideas? Both disks are bad at the same time?
