Though I heard this slight noise before switching to an OWC SSD, it is more pronounced now that the major noise of the 7200RPM Drive has been replaced. I can only describe it as a slight humming or high-pitched undulating noise that varies by seeming to go up and down pretty constantly. The fans are both running normally at around 2000rpm. I'm not sure that the noise is from the fans or fan or maybe from the CPU chip or maybe even the video card. It's not enough to start tearing down the computer and I admittedly work in a very quiet room.
But I would love to know what the source is. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
It's as if something in the system, rather high-pitched, is rising or lowering in intensity. The noise is not constant, meaning that it varies. So instead of hearing a constant fan swooshing sound, behind that sound there is this varying up and down whining sound of something going on in there.
Thanks for any hints on what it might be. Or if someone else hears something similar would like to know that as well.
