I know there are many threads here already surrounding these topics, but none quite touch on the problem I'm having with my MacBook Pro (mid-summer 2009).
To make a long story short, I spilled a beer on the laptop about a month ago and thought it was gone for good. However, after letting it dry and cleaning up the inside with rubbing alcohol, I was able to get the computer back up and running with no problems...
EXCEPT, I'm having power adapter issues. The original power adapter that came with the laptop was 60w (and it wasn't plugged in at the time of the accident). Whenever I try to plug it in now (before, during, and/or after disconnecting the battery), it just flashes green and will neither power the laptop nor charge the battery. (BTW, I'm sure there isn't a problem with the power adapter b/c it operates as intended with my mom's MacBook.)
HOWEVER, when I plug my laptop into an 85w power adapter (distributed w/ the larger screen MBPs), everything works like a charm. Well, almost everything: if you disconnect the 85w adapter you must also disconnect then reconnect the battery connection cables in order to have the power adapter function the next time it's plugged in.
All in all, I can deal with using my laptop w/ the 85w charger, but am curious what some of MacRumors' in-house experts think the problem might be
It confuses me that the laptop operates fine, but only with a charger that isn't supposed to go w/ it, esp. since the original power adapter works fine on every other machine...
Any ideas guys? Sorry for the long and involved post, but I wanted to differentiate the problem I'm having from all the other battery/AC threads posted here.
Thanks in advance for your help!!!
