Help Jailbreaking iPhone 3GS 3.1.2 -> 4.1 and iPhone 4

I got great help last time, so I'm trying you guys again. :)

I am running Win7 x64.

Problem 1:
I have a jailbroken iPhone 3GS running 3.1.2 (think it only has 3.1.2 shsh blobs saved, but not sure. Going to run TinyUmbrella to see). I want to update to 4.1 and jailbreak.

1. Is there a way to update to 4.1 and jailbreak it, while still keeping it unlockable in the future?

2. Is this process correct for updating to 4.1 and jailbreaking it?
a) Run TinyUmbrella to save SHSH blobs.
b) Update to 4.1 using custom firmware (where do I download this? I assume it's not http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ since this is from Apple's servers?)
c) Run limera1n.


Problem 2:
I have a jailbroken iPhone 4 running 4.0.1. I want to update to 4.1 and jailbreak.

1. Do I just follow these instructions if I want to keep it unlockable in the future? http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=12133

2. If I have Appsync, and I update to 4.1 and jailbreak, will I be able to sync all my current apps back to my iPhone after jailbreaking?

problem 1: use pwnagetool to make a custom ipsw to restore to 4.1 otherwise your baseband will update
problem 2: 1) you can use tinyumbrella and run the tss server while you restore to 4.1 to retain your baseband. run greenpois0n or limera1n.
2) use pwnagetool to make custom ipsw to restore to 4.1

Completely different process. But yes, us Windows guys need to do the Tiny Umbrella process followed by limera1n or greepois0n. I used TU + limera1n successfully and recommend it.
 
1) For the 3GS you need to use Pwange Tool, the only method right now
2) Pwnage Tool again or the Limera1n+TU combo

Thanks, that's all I wanted to know for the 4.1 jailbreak. I used TinyUmbrella to save my shsh blobs, but apparently they're not saved on Cydia?

I definitely remember asking Cydia to take care of it when I first jailbroke my 4.0.1, and I saw the 4.0.1 shsh blobs saved. What happened to that?
 
Click the general tab. It'll show the blobs you have saved.

Does that mean I can't update and still keep it unlockable?
 
You can't use TU to preserve the BB on a 3GS, TU only preserves the BB on an iPhone 4.

If you had a mac, you could use Pwnage to keep the BB, but you have a Win 7 box, so you need to use RedSn0w which was released today.
