My current A1150 MBP is dead (RIP) and I need to replace it. I'm headed to Apple to buy a 13" MBP. Anything I need to know before I buy it? Thanks in advance.

It will probably be more or less exactly the same process as you had to go through with your previous MBP.

Don't purchase it directly from an Apple store. Get it at Amazon with free shipping and no state sales tax. If you are an Amazon Prime member, you will get it in 2 days, or 1 day shipping for $3.99.

What's the price to become an Amazon Prime member?

It's $79 a year and well worth it to me, to get 2 day shipping on my purchases. But if you don't use Amazon that often, then it's probably not for you.

Yeah I'd definitely buy on amazon. I just did actually and saved $457 on my order over apples.

Not sure if still available, but Amazon was giving away a free year of Prime to students a couple months ago...

you can get a free month trial of prime or you can get a free year of prime if you're a student (or have an .edu email)

I think it depends though. State tax is $0.06 per dollar in my state, Connecticut. Although I am a student, the only difference in price between Amazon.com and The Apple Store is $16. For that much, I'd rather be able to physically return my product to The Apple Store vs. shipping it to Amazon if need be. Maybe the same applies to you? :)

And yeah, this is still going on. I've had free prime for I believe 4 months now-- LOVE IT. Came really useful when I needed to buy textbooks.

And the MBP's are eligible for it (or $3.99/item for 1 day shipping-- wow!) But I still hold by what I said above.

I say goto the store. Then if something is wrong with it you an swap it right in the store. Enjoy!

? Most people don't open their products at the store. If there is a problem, you can always bring it in for warranty.

if it's a real defect, apple will probably replace it even though you didn't buy it from them

You don't need "prime" to get it in two days.

Amazon ships all expensive electronic items via UPS or FedX two day shipping.

Just choose standard free shipping. My DSLR came two days UPS. Camera lens came via UPS in two days. Printer came via FedX in two days. All under standard free shipping.

You are just very lucky. I normally received free shipping items in 4 or 5 days.
Very rare to receive in 2 days.
Probably live close to storage?
