I have been wanting to upgrade my stock 250GB 5400-rpm Serial ATA hard drive on my 13" MacBook Pro to something with more space. I need to know the maximum size of the replacement drive. Can someone please tell me the specifications? I know it has to be 2.5", but I need to know the height and whether it still has to be SATA (3Gb/s) or can it be SATA (3Gb/s) with Advanced Formatting like WD Scorpio Blue 1TB. Thanks.

I think 12.5mm height drives fit in the new unibody MBPs with no problems, but on pre-unibody Macbook Pros, only in the 17" ones. Someone else chime in if I'm wrong about this.

Anyone know if a 7200 rpm drive will make a white unibody Macbook vibrate?

Looking at the WD Scorpio Black WD5000BEKT 500 GB hard drive.

I just put that exact model in my new 13" MBP 2.4 GHz. Maybe a little speed increase, but the vibration is really annoying. I may go back to the stock drive. That drive didn't make my Dell 1764 vibrate...disappointed. :(

Also, I have a 320 GB Scorpio Black drive that I just put into the 13" MBP. I don't notice the vibration with this drive like I had with the 500 GB Scorpio Black.

I did leave it as MBR instead of GUID....does that make any sort of difference?
