I am going to buy a new printer. And I would like to buy one that is the most compatible with airprint's capabilities. I have a basic (and probably flawed) understanding of how it works, and would prefer to not have a "network" setup, ie my pc has to be on to run the printer through. I want to be able to print as wirelessly as possible.

So do I want a wifi printer, or do I want one of the hp eprinters, or am I missing something and they are basically the same?

Thanks for the insight.

you want what is called a "wireless" printer

compatibility will probably be announced when 4.2 comes out, although my bets are on HP printers being the most compatible, if there is any difference at all. It may just work with any wireless printer

You want a printer that supports AirPrint. As far as I know, only HP has announced support so far.
