Apple Site - Horizontal Scrolling support?

Is there any reason why Apple has not implemented horizontal scrolling in their own site menu's yet?

I'm talking about menu's like this:

I guess it's the way they've designed the bar at the top, that it isn't seen as an actual scrollable region as such.
