Add movies via Iphone browser

You can add them sure, but the iPod app won't play them unless you load from iTunes. You'll need a 3rd party media player if you transfer them over manually.
VLC app is free in the app store. You can then add your movies drag and drop through the itunes apps tab when you select your phone in the left hand pane. VLC can play most formats.
Duh on me.
I didn't even think to recommend this. I use it myself but it's a little buggy but not so much that VLC does do the job.
