I have a few of issues.
First, I have the "automatically reduce screen brightness" box checked in Energy Saver with a display sleep time set to 4 minutes (on battery). Sometimes, the display will dim 30 seconds before the screen goes to sleep, sometimes it will dim 2 minutes before the display sleeps. Is this variability normal? I'm talking about the screen dimming that takes place when the box that I mentioned above is checked, not the ambient light dimming, which I am well aware of. I was thinking that maybe a background process was running right at the moment the display was supposed to dim, which prevented it from dimming at that moment.
Next, I've noticed that sometimes the ambient light sensor works quickly and will adjust the brightness quite a bit (i.e. when I place my hand in front of the sensor), but other times it takes a little bit longer to adjust and won't adjust by as much (even if I place my hand in front of the sensor). Is that normal?
Third, I've noticed a few times that when my display does dim (before the display sleeps), it will dim, then quickly go back to the brightness that it was on. Then after the 4 minutes are up, the display will still sleep without the screen dimming first. This is not a screen flickering that I have read about on other threads, it's just the standard dimming that occurs prior to the display going to sleep and then a return to normal brightness (all within about a second).
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks
