my friend got red halloween hair dye over her white macbook. tried to clean it with wipes and that didnt work.

I used rubbing alcohol on a paper towel and tried to clean it. her keys are now pink.

but now it wont turn on.

did i just ruin it ?

can the alcohol seep through the keys and get on the logic board and fry it?

HELP!

applied it with paper towels. the dye (ink) has nothing to do with it. it was working fine from the dye. the dye was just from red hair spray.

it could be the dye...if you applied too much alcohol allowing the dye to drip into the keyboard and onto something. usually a little alcohol wont hurt a computer as it evaporates quickly and is used to clean computer parts but the ink could.

you should have done it like u were performing surgery. held a vacuum with a small head on it right where u were applying the alcohol to suck up any residue.

but if your any good with taking computers apart you could always look and see if dye did seep down onto something, and then try and clean it off with alcohol.

****** situation. are u stuck with paying for the repairs or no?

dont know yet. have to get little screw drivers to take back off and take battery out and restart it. see if thats the case.

there wasnt a significant amount of dye so it definitely wasnt the die.

so im still troubleshooting before we take it to the apple store.

hmm then thats weird. idk...best of luck to ya.

now by swiping across the keyboard, it made it turn on. none of the keys work. swiping across again turned it off?

any idea how to fix that??

probably definitely going to have to take it to apple store !
