Hi,

My Macbook has started overheating for the last few months, but not to this point. I am running Google Chrome with 6 tabs and 1 windows and also Mail. That's all!

My computer is getting to 84C (183F) at fan speeds of 6200rpm :S

I do have extended Apple Care which should cover me for a while (3 years)?

Any suggestions?

I have a 15" MBP (same age) and I have Skype, Mail, Safari and Transmission open, my temperature for the CPU is 83degC.

I think these guys just run very very hot!

It could be normal if u have alot of flashs running on your browser Chrome. If it's not the case, try to look at the processes running on background, may be some big things are running. I have Macbook Alum 2008 too and it's still fine like the first day i got it :p

check whats using the cpu in activity monitor. i had a spell last year when some crappy hewlett packard scanner software was running one of my cpu cores at 100% as soon as i turned the macbook on. it was always hot with the fan blasting. i got rid of the hp software and it runs like new again now.
