I have a 15" Macbook Pro I purchased in the summer of 2008. I have never had any problems with it until recently. Now it has started freezing at random times, though it becomes especially likely when I have been watching video online for any length of time. Mail runs slowly and cannot be closed without force quitting, and it seems to freeze most often when I'm using Safari, but almost any application seems capable of freezing my computer. Booting up is has also started taking a long time, but nothing I can't live with.

The other problem is that when plugged into the charger it will stop charging randomly, usually if i just nudge the computer a little bit. Then i have to unplug and replug the charger, hoping it starts working again.

Is there anything that can be done to solve these issues or is my MBP just getting old? I would love to replace it with a newer one, but I won't be able to afford that for a few more years at least.
