Can multiple Aperture libraries reference the same files?

If I have multiple Aperture libraries, can they reference the same master files?

Yes. If it worked even over NAS that would be good too but I'm not sure.

I just wonder what would happen if one library deleted a file (thus deleting the reference file), and then another library tried to access it. I guess it would just say it can't find the master?

Of course it wouldn't find the master, after all, you've deleted the file!
That's the only problem I see with multiple libraries accessing one file. I'd keep it separate, e. g. create libraries by year or so.
