does DVD sharing installer even work? Can't install: MBA related

I don't understand this. I need to install office on this computer but I'm having a hard time installing the DVD or CD installer setup on my mac mini. It says there is an updated version so i have install that but when i go to apple's site to take their latest version (which is like 2 years old). my mac keeps saying thats the latest version.

Am I missing something here? How do I start cd sharing?

I don't think you need to install anything. I have Snow Leopard installed on an iMac without any extra installer and I'm able to share the DVD with an MBA just fine. I only have to go to the sharing system preference and turn it on. Is that not working for you?
