Should I install 10.6.5. again and again?

After installing this combo.10.6.5. I got error messages when connecting phripherals, such as card-readers, cant save pictures from the reader to desktop, etc, error-36.
After installing 10.6.5. twice, Im still getting this problem, also stating it havent been ejected properly.

Should I install the non-combo perhaps? or a clean install? however with a clean install I probably will loose Photoshop and Raw-converters and some pro-camera softwares?

Have you done a PRAM/SMC reset?

Thanks! but what on earth is that? Im a photographer and not to familiar with these things.
