I'll give you my opinion on my Santa Rosa Macbook.

Under idle and light use, it is reasonably cool. Yes, the bottom is warm, but not at all irritatingly so. Under heavy load, it's immensely hot and very loud.

The speakers are IMO quite good, they're loud and sound far better than the ones in my Lenovo Thinkpad T400 :apple:

I've owned both a MacBook and a MacBook Pro. I don't have the MacBook anymore, just the MacBook Pro. In my experience the new unibody 13" MacBook Pro is MUCH cooler and quieter than white MacBooks. My MacBook's fans used to be like jet engines every day, while my 13" Unibody MacBook Pro is super quiet doing the same tasks. The fans barely ever come on, and the bottom doesn't get as hot.

If heat is a big thing to you, considor the MacBook Pro.

BTW, the speakers on both the MB and MBP are great for watching videos :)

are you reffering to the old non-unibody macbook? or the current macbook?

Both. I had the unibody and my sister had the non-unibody. Both of the computers suffered tons of heat.
