So I decided to reinstall my OS X today because I was getting some weird bugs. First I backed everything up, including my iMovie library, which includes a lot of home videos. I sent all my files to my external hard drive and my Macbook. I even tested playing the files on the external hard drive and they played fine, I then tested playing the files on the Macbook over the network, and they played fine too.

Then I reinstalled. After the reinstall the files on neither the Macbook nor the external drive will play. iMovie won't detect them and Quicktime says the format is not supported. The Macbook can't play them back either.

Anybody know how to fix this?

The weird thing is, I've had this problem before with a reinstall. The exact same thing, iMovie files would not play anymore. I don't remember how I resolved it, though. I think It resolved itself after a reboot. I tried that though and no luck now...

Anybody have any suggestions?
