Right click sidebar, click "open sidebar preferences" and then check "today"

or

go into finder (in menu bar), click:

tdjmw

choose "preferences"

click:

rizmv

then on the bottom of that window, select "today"

lknwz

Edit: Sorry for the bad screenshots, hopefully these will work!

Click on Finder icon in your dock...then click finder in the menu bar and then preferences. A window will appear - click on the sidebar icon. In there put a checkbox next to "Today"
