I've got a unibody 15'', 2.66Ghz, i7 Macbook Pro with a 500GB 5200rpm HD. I just bought a OWC Mercury Extreme 120 GB SSD to use as a boot drive. I want to install Windows 7 on the boot drive as well as well OS X, so they can boot up fast and be more responsive. I will be using Optibay for the install.

Questions:
1- Does it matter which bay I put the boot drive in(Optibay or original bay)?

2- Do I need to update firmware on OWC Mercury Extreme 120 SSD before
install? If so how?

3- What is the best way to ensure all data files like music, videos and pics
are stored on the HDD and the OS files are on the SSD?

Any other tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. This is my first Mac so I'm still learning my way around OS X.

Install SSD in your hdd bay. Move hdd to optical bay. you don't need to update firmware. Install OS X on SSD, and point to iLife apps to HDD's appropriate libraries.

Thanks for the reply. I was just wondering why does it matter which bay the ssd goes in? Also is it ok to have OS X and Win 7 bootcamp on the bootdrive?
