Hello all,

I have a Mini DV camcorder that I took lots of movies on in the past back when I didn't really care about computers. I want a connector to my computer. Now I'm getting confused about different Firewire connections because I see full-fledged Firewire 800 ports and mini Firewire ports and I want to get my facts straight. Is this cable a full Firewire 800 connection or just a mini Firewire? I want one with Firewire 800. http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-F0...ZQM2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1290048534&sr=8-1

That is the correct cable, but as miniDV stores its video with a lower transfer rate than even USB 2.0 or FW400, there is no need for a "full fledged" FW800 cable, as the 4-pin port is designed for FW400. Btw, DV encoded footage takes only up to 3.125MB/s and you can transfer only in real time anyway.

Thanks guys! And I wanted an 800 one because I have a 13" Macbook Pro that has only FW800, no 400.
