i just backed up my first dvd on my mac is there a quicker way as it took 2hrs with the programs i got wich is mac the ripper and roxio popcorn any ideas thanks.

Get a computer with a faster processor.

Faster DVD drive will have greater effect if we're talking about ripping. Faster CPU will help if/when encoding

It took my G4 iBook up to 12 hours to transcode one film via Handbrake.

He said it took him 2 hours to rip and copy a dvd, that implies that most of the time was not spent on the ripping process. Ripping DVDs with mactheripper and the stock iMac drives only takes a fraction of the time as encoding.
