No it is not because I have an eq or boost on. I have checked between quicktime and itunes the same music at the same volumes and itunes is defiantly quieter...sound enhancer off etc. anyone know why?

:p :)

Can you not just turn up your speaker? I've heard that ipods volume get tweaked with updates, but not itunes.

iTunes 'normalises' all audio volumes to the 'same level'. Whatever all that means I dunno, but if you import a song that's particularly loud, and play it as soon as it's added, and before iTunes has a chance to 'normalise' it. After a few seconds wen iTunes does get around to it, you'll hear the volume drop once it does it's magic.

its the same song im comparing with =) and itunes only 'normalizes' if you have soundcheck enabled...which i do not.
