hey i have an old iphone 3g that we dont use any more that i was thinking about selling. currently it is not jailbroken, but has been in the past. it currently has 4.0 (8a293) with modem firmware 05.13.04.
i have shsh on file with TU for 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2, 4.1 and 4.2b3.

right now the phone has a bunch of apps and personal stuff on it. what is the best way to restore this phone to the factory settings (getting all my junk off it) but preserving the base band and all that stuff so that it is still unlockable?

(i have never had to do any complicated restores before so if you have a video link that would be great.)

Thanks!!

First unsubscribe certain apps like textplus which use your device id to send notifications. Then goto settings, general, reset, and tap erase all content and settings. I've never done it before, but I ready somewhere that it might take 30 minutes to reset.

That's the method I used for my 3GS and it took roughly 8-10 minutes. Got everything back to factory setup once it was done.
