Earlier today, i was randomly browsing the internet when i happened to come across a site that automatically downloaded a file to my computer. I did not click on anything and, to my understanding, the site was completely normal.

file downloaded: reimagerepairer.exe
browser: google chrome

is this a virus? seemed rather odd that it would download just by itself :| ... as soon as it downloaded, i went straight to the finder and trashed it. any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

As long as you were on OS/X you're totally fine. There are no viruses in the wild for it. The file you downloaded was a .exe which is a Windows only executable. Now if you're on Windows when you downloaded it, there is a possibility you have a virus.

As long as you didn't type in your Admin password you should be fine. It any case, it is probably a file specific to Windows.
