Please help:

The Maps application on my iPhone 3GS (with iOS 4.2.1) has a problem: It zooms out to reveal the entire world way too often. It zooms out to the whole world in the following circumstances:

1. If I click "Search" and then type anything with just one result. It zooms out to the whole world and then drops the pin. I have to pinch-zoom for like 5 seconds before I can see any detail.

2. If I click "Search" and then click "Bookmarks" and then click on a bookmark. About 90% of my bookmarks will zoom out to the whole world and then drop the pin. About 10% of them will be zoomed in nicely, and I can't figure out what the pattern is. However, if a bookmark usually zooms in, then it ALWAYS zooms in - it is a persistent feature of the bookmark.

When it zooms properly:

3. If I click "Directions" and then do anything. "Directions" always works. It zooms just enough to reveal the whole route.

4. If I click "Search" and then search something with multiple hits, like "supermarket". It will zoom just enough to reveal all 10 supermarkets that it thinks I might be interested in.

How do I fix this? It is very annoying, I do a lot of pinch-zooming. Thanks.
