Dropping connection

I don't know if its dropping connection or not because my wifi bars on the top stay the same but I have instances where safari gives me that can't connect because you're not connected to the internet or steam gives me a no connection thing. Is there any way to fix this? This happens while im doing whatever and I do not know if its only at my house because since there hasn't been school and I just got this, i've only really had a chance to try out my new mbp here.
