Can plugging my PRAM battery in while my Pismo is on "sleep" be dangerous ?

... If I turn it OFF I my no be able to reboot... 'cos main battery is dead and RAM battery is dying or dead. ( un plugged it to finally get my Mac up and running) Thanks
