Hi! So I recently bought a new Macbook for college and I was typing gibberish one day due to a writers block and now my desktop file icons are stuck. I checked to make sure the desktop wasnt locked, and it wasnt. But I can put the files in the trash and other folders, but I can't move them on the desktop or re arrange them as I like. Its kind of annoying not to be able to arrange them into the right order for me. Thank you for your help!:apple:

Click on the Desktop background somewhere to make sure that it's the "active window" so to speak, and go to View -> View Options... In there, I'm betting you'll find that they're set to arrange by a certain qualification (Name, Date Modified, etc). Set that back to None and you should be set.

Glad it's a nice simple fix! Those arrange by settings have command shortcuts, so when you were typing gibberish you must have accidentally hit one of them.
