No HTML emails on iPad?

It seems that HTML emails that render correctly on my wife's iPhone, don't on my iPad. Even the HTML templates in OS X mail do not work on an iPad. What gives?
 
Upon further examination, an HTML email sent to my mobile me account works fine, the same email sent to an exchange account does not.
 
What do you mean by not rendering properly?

Images missing? That's a setting in Settings.
