I think that you should re-think using candybar. Its 100% free, and its much easier to change icons with candybar than doing it manually. Plus you can download (for free) tons and tons of skins for icons and apply them with ease.
Oh, and with candybar you won't want to stop with the finder and the trash, you'll be wanting to change all your icons
