I'm trying to network a XP Pc to my iMac running Tiger. When I try to open network in system preference, it just opens an empty window. It's like I'm missing an app. I have tried to install it using my OSX install disk several times. This is what I get. Please help, my Apple Care expired 6 months ago. My OD plays CDs and DVDs with no problems.

A couple thoughts:

Delete (or just move to the Desktop) /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist and /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist, as well as potentially any other files that appear to be network related in that folder, then reopen System Preferences.

Have you done a complete OS reinstall from the disks, or were you just trying to install the Networks Preference Pane?
