I'm sure this has probably been brought up before, but I have to question the usefulness of Apple's AirPrint when used with an iPhone/iPad/iPod touch.
I question it because your MacBook has to be running at all times to be able to share the printer on your network for your iOS device to be able to print. Now I don't know about you, but if I'm on my iPhone lounging around the house, my MacBook Pro is usually closed 90% of the time -- no need to keep both devices running.
Same goes for night time. I close my laptop and transfer 100% of my surfing duties over to my iPhone. But if I do want to print something out of the blue, my notebook would have to be open and running. Kinda defeats the purpose...
Now don't get me wrong, AirPrint works just fine on my MacBook Pro with my HP 3800n and my Canon MX860 (using the hacktivator app), but the implementation seems a little limited to me.
Now, I do also have a Photosmart Premium C310 with ePrint (I have it temporarily for testing purposes) that I can print to at any time I want no matter if my laptop is open or not. That seems like the way to go and I just wish there were a way to get around having to run your main computer 24-7 to have printing access.
Maybe Google's cloud-based printing solution will be the better way to go?
