Can you use Face Time with I chat?

I am new to using apple products. Bought an Iphone a few months ago and recently picked up a mac book pro.

I bought my dad a new ipod touch for his birthday and want to know if I can use ichat to talk to him with face time on his touch. If so, how do I set it up on my mac.
