I ordered a refurbed iMac 27-inch 2.8GHz Intel Quad-Core i5 processor last week and received it yesterday. My decision path was exactly the same as yours with the exception that I also considered the 2.93GHz Intel Quad-Core i7 @ $1,899.

For me, the newer i5 Quad Core was the best value. The newer Radeon card with twice as much VRAM and Direct X11 support trumped the two older machines. The 2.93GHz i7 just didn't seem to offer enough performance increase to warrant the additional $200. I opted to order another 8GB of RAM from Crucial for $140 instead.

I don't think you can go far wrong with any of these machines. Enjoy!
 
thank you very much I was leaning for that same one. although an i7 sounds good the graphics card is better.
