Apple today released iTunes 10.1.1, addressing a number of performance issues.
This release provides a number of important bug fixes, including:

- Addresses an issue where some music videos may not play on Macs equipped with NVIDIA GeForce 9400 or 9600 graphics.
- Resolves an issue where iTunes may unexpectedly quit when deleting a playlist that has the iTunes Sidebar showing.
- Fixes a problem where iTunes may unexpectedly quit when connecting an iPod to a Mac equipped with a PowerPC processor.
- Addresses an issue where some music videos may not sync to an iPod, iPhone, or iPad.
The update is available via Software Update or Apple's iTunes download page.

iTunes 10.1 was released in mid-November ahead of the iOS 4.2 launch.

Updating now.

You know this would be a good way for Apple to run a promotional contest. Imaging an update comes out and the 1,000th person (to pick a random #) discovers $100 credit in their itunes store account when itunes relaunches after upgrading.

Update: Just launched itunes after update. Works fine.

I had to reinstall iTunes and it seems ok now.

iTunes doesn't get collections? Or is this likely for 10.2 or 10.1.2, and that 10.1.1 was just bug fixing?

I d/led from Software Updater and all is fine.
One thing I've noticed both before and after the update is my Genius Mixes are missing. The title is still in the left sidebar, but clicking on it just gives me a blank page instead of the 6 Mixes I used to have. Strange. I still have Genius and it still works fine.

Definitely hoping this fixes the music video syncing bug. I was upset when I saw it didn't want to sync my favorite video to my phone. :(

Yeah, my Genius Mixes disappeared a week or 2 ago when i updated Genius after buying some music from iTunes. I disabled Genius, it disappeared from the sidebar of course, enabled it again, and the Genius Mixes in the sidebar hasn't come back at all since.

I searched and found others with the same issue with no resolution.

How about they fix iTunes...

It is nice to see that they are fixing "bugs", but why don't they fix glaring, major problems? I CONSTANTLY get the "Do you want to all the iTunes app to accept incoming connections" prompt. Despite my clicking Yes many times and iTunes showing up as allowed/green light in my firewall preferences, we keep getting this message! This is very annoying for me and my wife. This happens on 2 different machines and keeps reappearing, the issue never seems to go away. The "codesign" utility in Terminal shows that Apple's digital signature for iTunes.app is invalid which I bet is why I constantly get the message. Please don't tell me to reinstall iTunes, I have done that 2 or 3 times before over the last couple of years to try and resolve this issue and it still comes back. That is not a solution, Apple needs to fix their problem software. I imagine that this happens because they probably never test their machines with the firewall on since it is off by default in OS X. I guess it is the most advanced operation system on the planet unless you change a default preference. What a joke.

Background:
  1. OS X Firewall is ON for my machines
  2. Sharing turned on in iTunes
  3. This has been happening in Leopard, Snow Leopard, and 3 versions of iTunes

Successful update via Software Update ...

Also "Software Update ..." found a Canon Printer Software Update.

Update on my earlier comment:

Via Software Update, my iTunes update is fine; no crashes.

Also, by switching Genius off/on, I also have my Genius Mixes back.

Thank you! :apple:

I had the same problem. Re-downloaded from apple.com and it's fine now.
