I have Comcast Cable Internet (& phone but no TV, except for aTV), an iMac (Aug. 2007 alum w/4GB Ram) running 10.6.5 and Mail 4.4. My wife has the same set up, only on a Macbook (late 2009). My mailhost is a third party company that I also use for hosting my domain (www.eFree2Net.com). I've been with them for about 10 years now.

EVERY BLASTED DAY -- SEVERAL TIMES A DAY -- we are prompted for our email passwords in order to receive mail. This has been going on for about a year and a half. Granted, we've been on Comcast for over two years.

I've tried a number of things, including deleting the settings in Keychain and re-entering them. (I have not tried a different email client and for now would prefer not to - but am willing if necessary.)

Any idears what this is all about? One thread out there in the wild suggested it had to do with Comcast doing something with dynamic IPs and/or ports for incoming mail, but now I can't find that thread.

Thanks in advance for help.
