I'm new to mac. Downloaded the CLAMXAV virus software as I move stuff from mac to pc. Dragged the icon to my apps folder, logged out. The icon appears in the app folder, but when I click it, it disappears from the task bar and the app doesn't open. I check in the activity monitor and the program isn't running. So I can't finish the setup or use it. What am doing wrong?

You might want to give Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition a try instead, it's also free.
P.S. On OS X it's not a Task Bar it's the Dock and welcome to Mac!
