My iPhone has been stolen, from work no less. It feels like a piece of me has been removed. Don't know what I am going to do. Last night they turned it on and the turned it off again. The GPS radius is far to large to go searching house to house or through the very large park located there. It was a birthday gift (my only one) this august, and have no way to get another one.

Horrible day and probably a horrible weekend. Was able to lock it remotely and send a message asking to return it. Not to hopeful that they will comply.

:(

:(

Sorry to hear, but the whole "feels like a piece of me has been removed" part has me a little creeped out.

Well its did everything for me, movies, podcasts, music, books, quick lookups, games and my Alarm clock. I didn't even realize how often I use it till it was gone and on at least a dozen times today i went to check something till I remembered it was gone. Still felt like it was on me till I tried to pick it up. It is/was my most prized possession, the one I feel the most lost without. It ranks up there for me right after family and friends.

Anyways, just venting, haven't felt like myself all day.

Sorry to hear it
We become so dependent without even realizing it
I rely on mine for everything too

Hope it works out and something good comes along to redeem your weekend

Doesn't creep me out a bit. I walk to the kitchen without mine and I feel lost. Would suck to do without it, but I doubt it will ever disappear or get stolen as I have a firm grip on it unless I'm sleeping.

I hope a nice person surprises you with it, OP, or that you are able to somehow get another one.

Edit: cool avatar

That sucks :( I can imagine I would be the same if my laptop was stolen. I hope you can recover it eventually.

Sorry to hear; but think, it's just a phone. Could have been worse, like a car, or your identity!

one of the kids who graduated high school with my sister in june got killed by a hit and run driver last night.

so yeah, like you said, its just a phone. a phone is just a piece of plastic. it can be replaced.

Actually the iPhone 4 is glass, haha. But yea that sucks. Couldn't imagine life without mine if it got stolen...I use it for mostly everything you do. Why didn't you just remotely wipe it??

It's a crap feeling, but it'll pass. My powerbook was stolen two years ago after someone climbed over the garden fence and shimmied through the dog door, leaving behind muddy footprints and an empty bottle of smirnoff ice :)rolleyes). Then my iPod was stolen 4 months later—it had been a birthday present not 10 days beforehand. Both times I felt angry and violated but powerless...like I wanted to knock the sh** out of this unknown person who'd stolen my stuff, even if I couldn't find them.

When my laptop was stolen the ground outside was wet from rain and the prints were easy to follow—I tracked them out of the yard and through several neighbors yards, before going over a fence. I ripped my jeans and cut my leg before losing the trail, and realizing that, in the end, it was just a computer that'd been stolen, and not a friend or even a pet. Surely you can save up the $30 for a refurbished 3GS.

Did they have an iphone that the op could have?

sorry for your bad luck ... here's hoping something positive happens for you soon.

I would be watching at work for anyone who ... Now has a new iPhone ... just like you, they will not leave it at home and will bring it to work.

Thats a bummer, good luck, lets hope a decent person does the right thing and returns it.

Thanks for the posts!

I went to the place that was last reported by mobile me (i did remotely lock it and sent messages pleading to have it returned) and it was mostly a large park with a stream and fenced in areas. It hasn't been turned back on in 3 days. I figured that the most likely scenario is that they ditched it after I locked it. I didn't normally don't lock it so it would have been a surprise after originally having free reign on it. I am 1% hopeful that maybe they will bring it back to work and leave it somewhere anonymously so that it can be found by someone else and return it.

Gotta steal one yourself!

Not the type of person I am. I would have turned it in and tried to locate the proper owner. But sometimes I wonder if I am the only honest person left around here, as it seems like something anyone else would do.

But will it have Wyvernspirit Life™ installed??

Well, Mobile Wyvernspirit Life™ is of course backed up on to Wyvernspirit Life Server™ at home. If/when a Mobile device capable of maintaining Wyvernspirit Life™ is available it is just an upload away.

My car is insured so I would have a recourse and my identity, well my credit sucks so I've always said they could have it. ;)

That price is for a new contract, I just got this iphone this summer (iPhone 4) and would have to pay full, or close to full, price.

Anyways sucks that you seem to keep having things stolen from you. It seems to reinforce that people seem to be getting worse and only thinking of themselves. Its sad.

That is sad, and worse then my situation. I was not trying to make it more then it is, it is something that can be replaced and not a life. Hopefully they can ketch the driver and have a little justice. I know that can't replace that life but it is something.

Man that sucks that one of your co-workers possibly stole it. Be sure and change your passwords of anything that you regularly accessed from your phone.

Got it back

I got it back today. Someone turned it in anonymously. I don't really care at least I got my iPhone back! It seems to be fully functional but won't know for sure till I get home to plug it in to the computer. I have a rubber port protecter over the 30pin and it looks like they tried to plug it in not knowing it was there (I have a black apple bumper case) and forced it into the port. I had to use a thumb tac to remove it. The port still looks ok, but not sure till o get home.

:D

Glad you got it back! Hope everything works the way it's supposed to.

I found an AT&T phone this summer...I was at a music fesitval and some young girl brought it to me because she couldn't find the guy running the event (it was an AWFUL event, and dude kept disapearing). I told her I'd find the guy and turn it in....Well we ended up closing up early, and i forgot about it. I'm heading home (3 1/2 hr drive) and find the phone when I stop to pee. So I turn it in to the AT&T store here in town the next day. They were shocked and amazed that I brought it to them.:( Made me sad.

Isn't it sad when people are surprised when you do the right thing? I wish it were the other way around.

Anyways, so far no faults with plugging it in. Updates added and new items uploaded and downloaded (I got a few new apps while traveling home). ITunes liking iPhone, iPhone liking iMac, podcasts all square, now I have a weeks worth to catch up on.

My supervisor wants to take me to a casino because my luck this week seems high. :)
