I have an iPhone 4.

Is it possible to play videos, games etc. on both my TV and monitor? 720p is preferable over lower resolutions.

My monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 2232BW) has a "RGB IN" port (looks like a VGA port to me?) and the TV has all inputs.

Anyway, after further research, I think I can conclude (but this may not be correct):

Component cable = not all TVs support it but all newer ones should, higher quality than composite, 576i, carries video/audio
Composite cable = most TVs support it but lower quality than component, 576i, carries video/audio
Dock to VGA cable = 720p, for TVs with VGA connectors (most newer TVs), carries video only.

in his video he has a cable leading from the headphone jack to somewhere...... ? could private message the youtuber ?
Yeh, I can do that (it's just a jack to phono cable), but that means sitting close to the TV unfortunately (well, depending how long the jack-to-phono cable is).

I have 3x 1-meter dock extensions cables, so these + an iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter means I can sit just over 3 meters from the TV (good for games etc.).

I think I'll do that (get an iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter) and buy myself a 3+ meter jack-to-phono cable.

Yes, it is possible and you can easily connect your iPhone or iPad to the TV. Check out the link http[:]//bit.ly/f4GYPh it will show you how exactly to do it.
