Do I understand you correctly, you want to remove the music (beat?) to have just the singing, like an inverse Karaoke version?
Garage Band may be able to filter some of the music out, but since the singing and the beats most likely use the same frequencies, while they also use a lot of their own frequencies, the removal of music from a song while leaving the singing is almost impossible.
