This has probably been asked a billion times but I tried the search and failed. So here it goes; I have a few movies that are in MP4 format and in order to burn them to a DVD and play on a normal DVD player, I was told it needs to be MPEG 2. Im looking for a free converter that would do this for me. Any ideas?

As video DVDs also need a special structure (VIDEO_TS folder > three different file types), why don't you use iDVD (part of iLife and included in every Mac since 2001 or so) to create video DVDs?
Or you could use the free software Burn (http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/Pages/English/home.html) to make video DVDs, if iDVD is too complicated.
