Hello. My name is Ashley. I'm a macbook user 10.5.8.

I would like to have bootcamp installed into my computer. I have bootcamp assistance and when I go to that and do a partition I get that message that reads (see attached image).:confused:

Could I have a link or could someone PM me and walk me through it. I have saved my hard drive on an external drive.

I just went through this myself a few days ago helping a friend Boot Camp windows on his machine.

What I did was:

1. run a time machine backup
2. Inserted Mac OSX install DVD
3. Powered down, rebooted off the DVD
4. Ran Utilities and re-partitioned the HDD
5. Ran Utilities and reformatted the HDD
6. Ran Utilities/Restore from backup
7. Restored HDD from Time Machine
8. Rebooted computer
9. Ran Boot Camp Assistant with no further issues.

A restore from Time Machine will maximize the data layout of your HDD leaving room for Boot Camp Assistant to use the space you are trying to allocate.

Prior to doing this, we were getting the same message at 30GB. After the above steps, we used a 40GB partition with no error messages what so ever.

Hope this helps.
