It is ridiculous that the iPhone 3G update to 4.x has rendered the handset useless for many of us. If it didn't work, I'd have happily not updated and stayed on 3.1.3 - but Apple said it would - and that was not true.

After a long and drawn out complaints procedure, I was recently advised to be more patient as they work on a fix. This all started in June and the latest updates have done nothing.

Worse, I was offered up to 55GBP discount on the online store, but not to be used on an iPhone!?!?

Come on people, I know others have had problems... we really should get our heads together and demand more - even an authorised downgrade to 3.1.3.

Strength in numbers and all that........

Any one had better luck or want to help?

I don't use my iPhone 3G anymore but I did give it to a friend, and before doing so I upgraded it to iOS 4, seems just as fine as it was before. The 3G was always slow to me anyway.
