My Mockup/Idea of the iPad 2

Hello fellow macroumors members,

I have done a quick mockup of how apple.com will look when the iPad 2 is released (plus what I think it will look like)

I've been waiting to see a mockup in ages, people just put wish lists up now and say they want a 1TB flash storage in the new iPhone otherwise they're going to android (slight exaggeration) but still good to see a mockup. I think that it will keep the same design as the old one but will have slightly modified features like the camera. I think apple has a few more tricks up their sleeves than just what we're expecting. I hope anyway.

i am doing the mockup according to the cases leaked a few weeks ago

and i think there will be more improvment on the inside then outside (better display, processor etc.)

It might just be my OCD, but the font for "iPad" is not the same one that apple uses. Otherwise, looks good even though it's similar to the old one, because I doubt Apple will change the form factor significantly in a second gen.
 
I hate the cyclops camera on the front. I'd much rather see it off-center, for a more stylized look.

I tried to get the font as close to the actual font at apple.com but I couldn't find the exact one so I used Arial Rounded
 
I'm afraid my initial reaction to that would be.

Is that it? :(

1 year and you drilled a hole for a camera and did nothing else.

I hope it looks a bit better.

I think the iPad 2 will look different, to distinguish itself from the first gen iPad. I saw a mockup of one with a shiny black back, like the iPhone 3G.

Who knows.
 
No problem. I remember when I first started using this site, much longer than I've been a member, I've been around here since the end of 2006 but the forums didn't really interest me then but when the iPhone was going to be refreshed for the iPhone 3G there were like loads of mock ups of what it could look like and I remember one of them that was like on the floor that had like google maps over the top of it and it looked really awesome and to me thats better than just 512MB of RAM because they're just like words and it's much nicer to see pictures, (I hope nobody posts a picture of the iPhone A4 chip now :p) Hopefully I make sense.

Ram will be 512.
Gyroscope will be added
Processor will get slightly faster
Front and Rear camera will be added for 720P recording.

Screen= 1330 X800? doubt it. Apple kept their iPhone 480 X320 resolution for 3 years before they upgraded to retina display. Most of other tablets won't have that much better resolution than iPad.

Storage= 128GB won't happen. These flash storages aren't cheap and apple isn't fooling around. Apple will keep 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage. Apple is a company that is going with cloud system.

Apple has now officially moved away from shiny plastic and obsessive amounts of fake chrome (except for the macbook)

I hope that the iPad2 is somewhat cosmetically than the first. Also, adding just a camera and maybe a RAM upgrade is not, for me, that convincing to upgrade. I need something else in it for me to sell my current iPad and get the new one.

Though I guess they don't really do this with the iPods and people go out in scores to buy the newest.

As long as there are teenagers out there with access to Photoshop you'll see "mockups" of iPads made from cheddar cheese, flubber or concrete. It's nice to see people exercising their creativity. Has next to no bearing on what Apple eventually does.
 
What's needed most I think, is a small recessed wristband attachment IN EACH CORNER, so you can choose where you want you wristband.

By wristband I mean like the little strap that you put on your USB thumb drive, the kind that narrows to fishing-line width where you attach it to the drive.

The iPad's corners would each have a little groove there with a peg, like a tooth in a clenched jaws, so nothing would stick out.

this is what's most important when you've had a close-call like I just had moments ago, standing on the porch, browsing in the fresh air, and an icicle came down and almost knocked my iPad to the ground.

I mean, really REALLY important!
