I'm installing a clean copy of Tiger on my old G4 to give to a friend... currently. the drive I'm going to install it on is outside the machine in a SATA dock connected to my Mac Pro.
Can I install Tiger on this drive in the doc using the Mac Pro, then just stick it in the G4, or is it best to put the drive in the G4 first, boot from the Tiger DVD and install Tiger while the drive is in the G4?
(i.e. does the installation process assess your hardware and configure the OS accordingly).
