Hello -
First of all some background for the noob questions. I shot a lot of 35 mm film on Nikon until ~2002, when kids and portability/convenience won out and I got a series of Canon PowerShots. For years uploaded directly into iPhoto, then Aperture directly from the camera. My videocamera footage was imported into, and edited via iMovie.
Recently got the itch to get back into serious photography again. I bought a Nikon D7000 and have been having a blast. As a bonus, much of my old glass and Speedlight have been resurrected. However, now need to upload photos and video and i have a few questions.
1) Nikon provides a View NX2 software. Do I have to upload via this or can I upload into Aperture directly for the camera?
2) Are there advantages to the View NX2 software?
3) Is there a way to separate out the photos for Aperture, and the video footage for iMovie?
4) Thoughts on RAW versus JPEG?
